Zoetis VibraVet® Antibiotic Treatment Paste – Broad-Spectrum Oral Antibiotic for Dogs and Cats

VibraVet 100 Paste by Zoetis is a highly effective, easy-to-administer oral antibiotic paste containing Doxycycline 100 mg/g (as monohydrate). Specially formulated for dogs and cats, this chocolate-flavoured paste offers excellent bioavailability and tissue penetration for the treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections.

Indications

For the treatment of infections in dogs and cats caused by doxycycline-sensitive organisms, including:

  • Skin infections (e.g. pyoderma, folliculitis)
  • Gastrointestinal (GIT) infections
  • Respiratory infections (rhinitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)
  • Puerperal infections
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Otitis media (middle ear infections)
  • Urogenital infections

Effective against important pathogens such as Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas spp., Mycoplasma spp. and Chlamydia spp.

Dosage & Administration

Always follow your veterinarian’s instructions. Typical dosage regimen:

  • Loading dose: 5 mg doxycycline per kg body weight orally once
  • Follow-up: 2.5 mg/kg every 12 hours for two doses
  • Maintenance: 2.5 mg/kg once every 24 hours

Treatment should continue for 5–7 days or for 48 hours after clinical signs resolve. Longer courses may be required for chronic or refractory conditions (e.g. chronic cystitis 10–28 days, respiratory disease 8–10 days).

Precautions & Contraindications

  • Do not use in pregnant bitches during the last 3 weeks of pregnancy
  • Do not use in newborn animals during the first month of life
  • Vomiting may occur as an uncommon side effect
  • Tetracyclines may cause permanent tooth discoloration in young animals before permanent teeth erupt
  • Avoid concurrent use with antacids containing aluminium, calcium or magnesium
  • Keep out of reach of children

Storage

Store below 25°C (air-conditioned environment). Protect from light and moisture.
